Gov. Pat Quinn is the proud father of two sons: Patrick and David. From their earliest days, both boys often joined their father at community meetings and political gatherings across the state and followed in their father’s footsteps as long-distance runners and avid sports fans and participants.
Patrick graduated from St. Petronille grammar school in 1998 and graduated from St. Francis High School in 2002. He was seven-times Illinois All-State in the cross country and track competitions of the Illinois High School Association (IHSA) and he won Rockford’s annual State Street Mile race twice. He graduated from St. Francis University (Loretto, PA) in 2006 when he was the scholar-athlete of the Northeast Conference (NCAA Division I), winning the 5,000 meter, 10,000 meter, and 4x800 meter championships. Patrick received a Master of Fine Arts degree from the Vermont School of Fine Arts in 2015 and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. at the Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute.
David graduated from St. Petronille grammar school in 1999 and St. Francis High School in 2003, where he played football and ran track for four years. He graduated from Carnegie Mellon University (Pittsburgh, PA) with a degree in mechanical engineering in 2007 and won All-American honors when he finished second in the NCAA (Division III) 1,500 meter championships. David received a Master in Business Administration degree from the University of Chicago in 2012.
